Pre-production:
We started this assignment with a completely different idea and product. We were going to advertise Bovril, but the idea we had (sexy french man) was too much like a sketch, with Bovril being the butt of the joke. So instead we decided to go with a different idea in the form of Bruce's Mustard advert, but the idea he originally had was not very practical to film as it was set in the college canteen, so we changed it to be set in an office which made it much easier. In the original version, the "Colman's man" was going to be a very cool young man who makes the surrounding people dazed with his charisma, and he sits down with a packed lunch box. He then ejects a sandwich out of it, and also ejects a jar of Colman's Mustard (out of his inner-jacket hidden pocket - contraband mustard) and starts to spread his yellow. The story line we have now is one of an office worker who looks at his homemade sandwich and is very dissatified indeed, so he throws aside his sandwich and as if by MAGIC a grotesque little mustard goblin wearing a see-through yellow poncho comes from underneath his office desk, he startles our relatable, humble and affable office worker and then proceeds to open up the dissowned sandwich and squirt mustard onto it using a squeezy mustard bottle. After the madness of this, the mustard goblin goes back under the desk, leaving the ham and mustard sandwich vancant. The office man cannot resist temptation and takes a bite of the sandwich, he then goes mad with delight and has a slight facial breakdown. He stands up very strongly, banging his hands on the desk, ripping off his tie and untucking his shirt. With his new lust charge from the ham and mustard sandwich, he stomps over to his female assistant and whisks her away to her confusion/delight. The advert ends with the slogan, voice-over, and a new product ad-on at the end.
Production:
7/1/14 - Today we bought props (shirt and tie + mustard)
8/1/14 - Today filmed most of the footage that we need
14/1/14 - Today we re-recorded one of our scenes
15/1/14 - We had to re-film one bit because our footage that we had already was not as good as it should/could have been
17/1/17 - Today we filmed some more close-ups as we were lacking
Post-production:
9/1/14 - we imported all of the footage we got onto the Mac, we have ordered our footage and made a spped edit of it.
14/1/14 - We have recorded a voice over for the final bit of the advert
15/1/15 - we used after effects to edit the 'squeeze' onto the bottle
16/1/14 - today we completed our title + slogan, also learnt how to use key frames
17/1/14 - we imported the last pieces of footage and edited them into our advert
